As consumers, it can be interesting when developers pull back the veil and give us a glimpse at the process of making a video game. The downloadable content for the first Dragon Age put us in the shoes of an apostate witch who lived in a forest, a travelling bard, and a novice Grey Warden, although not the same one as in the main game. I sucked at Splinter Cell‘s multiplayer. I don’t necessarily blame the game design, but there was something about the pacing and the ability sets of both soldiers and spies that I just didn’t get. When I sat down to play through the assassination game in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, I was kind of expecting to hate it. Fortunately, the game won me over and proved that multiplayer doesn’t have to be about head shots and build queues.

The relationship between EA games and PC gamers has been turbulent at best, but EA is keen to try and patch things up.
