The gameplay trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl (or just STALKER 2, to simplify) shown at E3 2021 is prime hype material. The graphics look unreal, the game world oozes the familiar foreboding atmosphere, and the gameplay seems to recapture the frantic firefights and patient exploration of the old titles. Assuming we are not looking at a vertical slice that will be downgraded or fall apart in action, STALKER 2 looks set to deliver long-absent, long-missed thrills in a shiny and polished new package.
Ahmed Best took to his own Instagram following Stenberg’s statement, posting an image from The Acolyte alongside a message for its star. “I will always stand in solidarity for artists who give 110% to their work and art,” he said. “Keep shining queen.”
Ahmed Best Knows What It’s Like To Be Hated By Star Wars Fans Best being one of the first to chime in shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
How Big is the Star Wars Outlaws Map? The Star Wars Outlaws map is stretched across five planets, four of which are accessible at any point in the game, and one that is only available during story moments that call for it. Some of these planets offer wide areas to explore, and others are smaller, with their size increased through vertical design and large buildings. Before Star Wars Outlaws arrived, creative director Julian Gerighty said that each planet would be the size of two or three zones from another open-world Ubisoft game Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and now having played the game this is definitely true.

Sword of Convallaria Upon the Scorched Earth Event Start and End Dates The Upon the Scorched Earth event in Sword of Convallaria will run from Aug. 30, 12 p.m. ET to Sept. 24, at 11:59 p.m. ET. This means that you’ll have just under a month to complete all of the new event stages and farm up enough currency to get the items you want. Considering that it’s generally pretty easy to farm up currency, you should be able to get the most important rewards way before the event ends.
Dolls can be creepy things. If you’re left alone in the house with one of them, you might start seeing its eyes move, like it’s tracking you. So, imagine the surprise when the protagonist of The Boy, Greta (Lauren Cohan), is asked to babysit a doll for months in an out-of-the-way mansion in the English countryside. The doll’s owners, Mr. and Mrs. Heelshire (Jim Norton and Diana Hardcastle), lost their son 20 years earlier, and have been using this doll as a stand-in ever since.
For avid moviegoers, the start of a new year means enduring a couple of months of films that, historically speaking, are not good. The first wide-release of the year, at least for the last little while, is a PG-13 horror movie that’s not good and that the studio has no faith in, but is released here both to signal the beginning of the cinematic slump as well as to try to turn a profit while there’s no competition.
I share the sentiment, and yet I wish games offered the option to turn voiceovers off. Not turn down the voice volume, which can affect environmental and ambient sounds, but offer the choice to toggle voiced dialogue in the same way that most games have the option to toggle cutscene subtitles. I don’t imagine this would have much use in action blockbusters. I don’t want to read Nathan Drake’s one-liners while dangling from a cliff, nor Scorpion’s “Get over here!
It’s really weird to think that something like The LEGO Batman Movie could come from the same studio that makes the live-action Batman movies. This is a movie that spends a not-insignificant portion of its running time making fun of the grimdark Batman that has been gracing our screens ever since Batman Begins. And while the Christopher Nolan trilogy was pretty great – that success hasn’t really translated after he left the director’s chair.
This might imply that Mass Effect was a perfectly paced, lean, and tightly structured RPG. Far from it. Even at the time of release Mass Effect was criticized for its cut-and-paste planet design, exhausting resource collection tasks, and overly long rides in a bouncy surface vehicle (which has been partially fixed in the remaster). The game box marketing promised “interplanetary exploration of an epic proportion,” but in reality most planets were just collections of well-written flavor text – they could not be landed on or otherwise explored.
As convention cosplay goes, the Comic Cons attract some of the best costumers around. This year’s New York Comic Con over the last weekend was no different. From everyone’s favorite Marvel and DC characters to lesser known figures like the Phantom of the Opera, the cosplayers strutted their stuff inside the Javits Center. The Escapist had crack reporter Marshall Honorof on the scene to snap as many shots of cosplayers as he could.
The fundamental problem is that the game is terrible at teaching you how to enjoy it. I have no qualms with offering players a challenge, but too often I failed in the opening of The Witcher 2 because I simply didn’t have the mechanics properly demonstrated to me, not because it was actually challenging. My experience with the prologue carried through the rest of the game. The first sign of trouble was when I chose a dialogue option that sent me to battle a dragon with little preamble.
Given how tight-lipped the streamer has been about this series, (We only know the likely release date thanks to an accident.) these four images are pretty revealing. One is simply Cavill as series hero Geralt, brooding hardcore in the great hall of the castle Cintra. However, the other three give us a bit more than we are used to. The image of a hand holding a monster’s claw is definitely intriguing.
“Perfect Comedies” Last week the topic was stupid comedies, films meant to make us laugh with no pretenses of being well-crafted pieces of cinema. Movies that get put on during a late night laundry folding/potato chip eating sessions. This list is the ying to that yang. Every so often a comedy will come along that actually tries to make an impact. Not just “how gross can we make this gag” impact, but if aliens landed and wanted an example of human comedy at its pinnacle, we’d plop their tentacles down on the couch and show them these films.
The Comics and Cosplay crew has been getting hyped up for the next big comics events. DC Comic’s Convergence crossover event was revealed this week, and Marvel’s Secret Wars event is teasing a massive conflict with every cover it reveals. While we can’t wait to get our hands on those issues, we’re still here to bring you reading recommendations for this week! Stew Shearer recommends the trope-subverting fantasy Birthright #2, and reflects on the end of a series in Superman Unchained #9.
First, the important logistical details: Lonesome Road is scheduled for release on the Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network and Steam on September 20, and will feature a $10 price tag. If you’ve downloaded any of the other DLC add-ons for Fallout: New Vegas, you already know the drill. With that out of the way, let’s get into the more important bits. Like the DLC’s plot: As you can see from the above trailer, and the image gallery below, Lonesome Road focuses heavily on the “nuclear holocaust” aspect of the Fallout universe.

Electronic Arts Wants Your Trust Again This week brought a pair of stories from EA, most notably that the company was doing what it could to regain the trust of the PC gaming populace. Actually, while putting out some decent games in the past few years, the company has been in the crosshairs of many frustrated gamers because of its somewhat arrogant approach to games in general. Remember that, rightly or wrongly, EA was voted the worst company in America in 2013, and while revenues continue to be high, the perception among many gamers is that if EA can screw you, it probably will, either through anticipated games that are only multiplayer (“No one would play Star Wars: Battlefront single-player”), forcing “always online” into a game (SimCity anyone?
Consistency At Its Core The premise for Visions of Mana is simple, as one could imagine from its overall visuals. In order to keep the world’s balance, humans have to offer their souls to the Mana Tree every four years. The chosen ones are dubbed Alms, and being elected as an alm is one of the greatest honors for any person in the world of Fa’Diel. As the journey to the tree is filled with dangers and monsters, a Soul Guard is elected to protect them in their travels.
