The experience of watching Assassin’s Creed is akin to watching someone play the video game – but only during the cutscenes, and most of those cutscenes are of the “present day” variety. Those of you who have played the game know that the scenes in the present day are the least enjoyable, which makes the filmmaking decision to set the majority of the movie there an odd one, to say the least.

It’s taken several annual releases, but Assassin’s Creed is finally arriving at my favorite historical setting: Victorian-era London, England. But perhaps the most interesting details are its two playable protagonists, the brash criminal Jacob and the colder, more refined assassin Evie. It’s the latter who was finally showcased at Sony’s latest E3 press event, and we have to agree with Jacob’s narration – it’s a good idea not to mess with Evie.

According to details from the latest Game Informer Magazine posted by a helpful NeoGAFer, Assassin’s Creed 3 won’t be the only Assassin’s Creed title to hit shelves on October 30 this year. Slated for release on the same day for PS Vita is Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, which is said to be set during roughly the same time period as its big brother. Liberation will be based on “large gameplay areas” in the city of New Orleans during the years 1765-80, with the franchise’s first playable female assassin as the main character.
