While the newer James Bond films have been exploring the ruthlessness of James Bond as a character, none of them have attempted to portray the men behind the spy who spend years poring over telephone transcripts or, as you describe as an example, endlessly staring at a picture until they see a vital piece of evidence, or even more likely seeing nothing. This game is one of the rare ones that helps to enlighten those of us with no experience in that world beyond what we see on a movie screen, that there are men and women behind the facade of martinis and attractive women who have to make decisions that will affect the lives of thousands every day and make decisions that could very well haunt them for the rest of their lives for the greater good.
Self/less is another one of those movies that has a premise worth exploring, but one that decides to forego exploring that premise in favor of a generic action-chase movie. Here is a film in which a man’s mind can be transferred into the body of another, and yet very little of interest is done with it. There’s limitless potential here, and yet all we get is Ryan Reynolds running around and either chasing bad guys or being chased by them.

Harris Interactive has published its 15th annual Harris Poll RQ (Reputation Quotient) Summary, and the results…well, I doubt many of you will actually be shocked. The report includes information taken from 27,000 Americans, with the goal of ranking 100 of the most visible, high-profile companies in the U.S. Companies were graded via six categories: Social Responsibility, Emotional Appeal, Products & Services, Workplace Environment, Financial Performance, and Vision & Leadership. Those ranked at or near the top of the list are generally viewed as “good” by those polled by Harris, while companies at the bottom are not.
Barnes posted on X (formerly Twitter) to talk about the love the show had received from longtime fans. Unfortunately, Barnes confirmed that he had not heard of any plans for a revival. He said he was grateful for his fan support regarding the potential project. Barnes has previously indicated his interest in a revival of the 1990s series, even saying in May that he would be interested in reprising his role.
It was revealed earlier this year that the fifth season of Star Trek: Lowers Decks would be the show’s final season. When speaking with The Pop Insider, showrunner and creator Mike McMahan told the outlet that fans can expect to see a heartwarming and meaningful ending to the story. “We did a good job on it. The way we leave it, you’re gonna tear up. It leaves you in a place where everybody’s grown, and now they have new stuff to do, and you get to see a hint of it,” McMahan said.
Skeleton Crew‘s “young kids on an adventure” doesn’t simply borrow the basic set-up of an ’80s family-friendly flick put out by Steven Spielberg’s production company. It is one of those movies transplanted into the Star Wars universe. The production design, the cinematography, and most importantly, the tone, are exactly the same, only with a suitable sci-fi bent. A lot of fans will reflexively hate this approach. I’m not one of them, though.
I was a little concerned that Stasis wouldn’t get the job done on Kickstarter, but all is now well: The $100,000 goal was reached a couple of days ago and two stretch goals have been achieved since. It is a happy outcome; I played the alpha demo a few weeks back and it was raw, but very promising. Hitting the stretch goals is a pretty big deal too. The first one, at $105,000, isn’t much to speak of – the lead character will be able to use items in the game to commit suicide – but the second, achieved when the Kickstarter crossed the $120,000 mark, will see an “extended Mark Morgan soundtrack” added to the game.
With a focus on the mechanized side of the Fallout universe, Automatron adds a handful of extra armor pieces to collect. The robot armor is the most complete, with enough pieces to cover your body. Then there’s the flashy new Power Armor pieces that resemble the standard T-60 with bonus flair. To accentuate the robotic theme, you’ll get your pick of three different robot armor helmets that partially, or completely, cover the sole survivor’s face in or out of combat.
When it comes to video games, you honestly don’t get much more mature than The Witcher series. Rife with sex, violence, gore, polticial intrigue and stories of morally gray people doing morally gray things, it’s a franchise that pretty much revels in being for grown-up gamers. That being the case, most were probably assuming that The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt would receive and M for Mature ESRB rating just like the two games that came before.

In case you’ve forgotten – it was three years ago, after all – Ted was a movie about a teddy bear that came to life, grew up with a man named John (Mark Wahlberg), and together they swear and smoke pot and contribute almost nothing positively to anyone; they’re clearly the most interesting protagonists in film history. It came to us from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voiced Ted (sounding exactly like Peter Griffin), and made a ton of money.
The 5th Wave feels like it’s a the pilot episode of a television show. I don’t mean that to insult TV; there’s a lot of good work being done on the small screen. I mean in terms of its format, plot, and what it ultimately accomplishes. It doesn’t have much of a self-contained story, and serves almost exclusively as a way to set up a franchise. The problem with that is that we’re given almost no reason to care about the project and, therefore, don’t have any desire to sit through any continuations.
The BFG is a children’s book written by Roald Dahl in the 1980s that tells the story of a friendly giant who befriends a little girl – after abducting her, refusing to let her leave, and after Stockholm syndrome set in, of course. The giant spends his days catching dreams and being bullied by other giants, so he and the girl concoct a plan to deport his tormentors – because actually being assertive and standing up for yourself isn’t good enough, I guess.
Tek Knight’s Death in The Boys, Explained Tek Knight is a twisted take on Bruce Wayne, having a massive fortune and a Wayne Manor-like estate. The biggest similarity he has to the Dark Knight, however, is the presence of his butler, Elijah, who raised him since he was a boy. Elijah is like Alfred in a lot of ways, but he’s also not because he kills Tek Knight the second he gets the chance in “Dirty Business” because he can’t continue to let him get away with all of his evil actions.
As pointed out, there has been a shift from detailed rules to context sensitivity. This trend has greatly shifted the way videogames are played, and it’s almost like the split between pre- and post-modernism literature. But then again, I’ve been drinking too much tonight and this is neither the time nor place. So let me just surmise by saying good job Tom, and keep looking at the evolution of this fledgling art form.
