Battlefield 3 has been getting a lot of very positive preview press as its release later this year grows ever closer and Electronic Arts has made no secret of the fact that it’s aiming for a head-to-head showdown between the DICE-developed military shooter and Activision’s upcoming Modern Warfare 3. But there’s one guy out there who’s determined to be a wet blanket and of course it’s Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, who made a point of expressing reservations about the game’s console cred.

I appreciate its value in the industry and I understand why people love it; it’s just never been for me. But this new Square-Enix game is simply one of the most complete and engaging gameplay experiences I’ve ever seen. It has the open feel of Far Cry, the flexible mechanics of Assassin’s Creed, and the emotional intensity of Heavy Rain.

From its debut in 2000 with Final Destination to its obsession with 3D, the franchise has had quite a roller coaster ride (both figuratively and literally). Jared Leto – Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) The “Release the Snyder Cut” crowd got more than they bargained for when Zack Snyder decided to vomit out every idea he could possibly have into his film (and yet it was still better than the original cut), including a post-apocalyptic verbal showdown between Batman and Jared Leto’s take on Joker. Except it wasn’t even Leto’s take; it was just Leto saying painful Snyder dialogue as the director/screenwriter tried to cram all the ideas that others had brought to the character before this into one five-minute scene, even cribbing “we live in a society” from the mocking of Joker in one deleted scene (yes, a movie made of deleted scenes had deleted scenes).

By putting points into Luck, characters gain access to a wide range of benefits. A high rating can provide better critical hit opportunities, increase the amount of caps and materials found in the wasteland, and attract the attention of the Mysterious Stranger to intervene in combat situations. Fallout Shelter, Bethesda’s Fallout mobile app, has been doing pretty well for itself since its launch last month. Extremely well, in fact, as sales tracking organization SuperData reports that the game raked in over $5 million dollars in just two weeks. If you’re wondering why more and more devs are going down the microtansaction-heavy mobile game path, well, there’s your answer right there. Fallout Shelter is, like a vast majority of iOS titles, free-to-play with “optional” microtransactions.

Originally, those who preordered the Xbox version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Watch Dogs: Legion Collector’s Editions were to receive a physical disc as part of the package. However, the Ubisoft Store has released an update saying that it has now changed from a physical disc to a digital key to redeem. The rest of the content in those Collector’s Editions remain unchanged. However, the PlayStation Collector’s Editions of those titles will still come with physical game discs, and they also reportedly have the option of switching the disc for a digital download code.

I love how detail in games can vastly improve learning opportunities, such as learning about mushrooms for this author. The two major players in the cloud gaming space right now are OnLive and Gaikai. OnLive has been going strong for a while now, but Gaikai just opened its digital doors this week. Though they’re both based on similar technologies, Gaikai is a very different service. OnLive users connect to the OnLive hub to buy, rent, and play games. Don’t get me wrong: House of the Dragon is, for the most part, a great show. Season 2 started stronger than it finished, and it got plenty of people pumped for Season 3. And most of the show’s issues – stage-setter plotting and pacing, placeholder characters, and so on – can easily be addressed next time around. But there’s one thing House of the Dragon can’t do that Nine Voyages can: leave Westeros behind.

Charles Dance has been acting for nearly 40 years but if you recognize his name, the great likelihood is that it’s due to his recent portrayal of Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones. Announced via a press release from Crunchyroll today, it was announced that the Ghost of Tsushima anime adaptation will be based on the video game itself, as well as the Legends co-op multiplayer mode, which explored Japanese folklore and mythology. This makes sense, as an adaptation of Jin’s story might not necessarily bring anything new to the table for fans who have already played the game. By tapping into the mythology while setting the series within the world of Ghost of Tsushima, there’s plenty of storytelling potential there, as well as unexplored territory.

We reported last week that Australia requested some changes be made to CD Projekt’s highly anticipated sequel The Witcher 2 in order to receive a rating to be legally sold in the country. Now though, CD Projekt’s online retail arm Good Old Games no longer automatically detects a customer’s location based on IP address, allowing the customer to choose their location from a drop down menu. This change allows people to buy games that may not be available “down under,” but a representative from Good Old Games says that the change has nothing to do with the recent censorship.
