Fired Assassin S Creed Creator Opens Panache Digital Games

The creative director of the early Assassin’s Creed games left Ubisoft in 2010 only to rejoin the publisher three years later. Following Ubisoft’s acquisition of THQ Montreal, Desilets parted ways with the publisher once again when he was reportedly fired in May 2013. He sued Ubisoft the following month. As for Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft followed up the well-received Black Flag with the troubled launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity just a few days ago. It was accompanied on store shelves with the last-gen-only Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which didn’t make its way to reviewers until launch day. Desilets’ co-founder at Panache is another Ubisoft alum and casualty of THQ Montreal, Jean-Francois Boivin. As for Desilets’ lawsuit against Ubisoft and the game he was working on post-THQ, there’s been no update, so it’s unclear if his first project at Panache will be a work in progress or a fresh start.
