Mass Effect Legendary Edition Gets May Release Date Will Have Dozens Of Changes
Per The Verge, Mass Effect Legendary Edition has improved load times and visuals, especially in Mass Effect 1. Most notably, elevator rides, which were originally notorious for masking long load times, will be faster, and visuals in the original game (particularly in the opening area, Eden Prime) have been drastically overhauled. The Verge specifically says that textures in Mass Effect 1 will now resemble material as originally intended, with “eyelashes like spider legs or potato-shaped heads” now looking “sleek” in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Meanwhile, IGN confirms that the game is running on Unreal Engine 3 and reveals that class-based aim penalties have been removed in the remaster of Mass Effect 1. So for example, the Vanguard class can now effectively use sniper rifles. One negative for longtime fans, however, is that the collection does not support multiplayer, meaning Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode will not be present. BioWare has reportedly fixed “hundreds” of bugs in the original games for the release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, resulting in myriad improvements. Unfortunately, EA and BioWare have not expressed any explicit intention to release a Nintendo Switch version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but they are not ruling the possibility out.
