In a subsequently deleted tweet, Scott Snyder quoted the celebration and told fans to “wait for it.” The post was accompanied by a hashtag that said “beware the Court of Owls,” a clear reference to his Batman arc. WB Games Montreal previously worked on the Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City and led development on 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins. The latter title served as a prequel to Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham trilogy of open-world action games that completed with the release of Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015. Origins was generally positively received by critics, although it was largely thought to be a step down from Arkham City, which garnered critical acclaim and won many game of the year awards.
